Electro-Myopulse

The Electro-Myopulse represents a dynamic concept in healing.  It is a sophisticated electro-therapy unit that introduces a micro-current through injured tissue and accelerates the healing process. The Electro-Myopulse is different from conventional forms of electrical stimulation (i.e. T.E.N.s, Interferential therapy, and Galvanic stim.) in that it actually facilitates tissue repair and promotes cell regeneration at an accelerated rate.

When tissues are diseased or damaged, the normal electrical flow and function of the body is disrupted at the cellular level.  The cells experience "their power being shut off."  Nutrients are unable to flow into the cells and toxins are unable to be released.  This results in increased electrical resistance in the problem area, causing the body's electrical currents to flow around the damaged tissue.  The Electro-Myopulse and Electro-Acuscope have the capacity to drive the current through the resistance and stimulate rapid cellular regeneration.

It is an amazing treatment!  It literally regenerates injured tissue by repairing damage at the cellular level. Because of its profound effects on tissue repair, the Electro-Myopulse system can be used successfully in a broad range of musculo-skeletal disorders - both chronic and acute. When treating acute injuries, the recovery time is usually cut in half.

In the treatment of chronic conditions, patients who had lost hope of ever finding relief are amazed at how rapid and how lasting the affects of the treatment are.

In application, it is very similar to ultrasound in that it is administered using conductivity gel and a brass probe to perform specific trigger point therapy and it is non-invasive.  The patient might feel a slight tingling sensation, but most feel nothing.  Each treatment takes approximately 20-30 minutes, and the patient usually experiences significant relief after the first few treatments.  Since the effects are cumulative each treatment generally takes less and less time.  Depending on the nature of the condition, the patient usually requires an average of 8 to 12 treatments over a 30 day period to attain maximal results.

The Electro-Myopulse works on a "feed back" system where by it recognizes "normal" tissue and identifies specific areas of tissue damage, then determines the exact frequency necessary to repair the damaged tissue cell. This process continues throughout the treatment.  As the area begins to repair and the requirements of the tissue cells change, the Electro-Myopulse detects the new tissue requirements and adjusts its waveform to accommodate the specific needs of the regenerating tissue.  This results in an individualized treatment, as opposed to using an instrument with some preset parameter.

The Electro-Myopulse and Electro-Acuscope technology has been used on professional athletes for years.  Veteran golfer Jack Nicholas, Olympic champions Joan Benoit and Mary Decker, football stars Terry Bradshaw, Bo Jackson and Joe Montana, and hockey great Wayne Gretzky are among the many athletes who have had dramatic results with the treatment.

Jack Nicholas's tendonitis problems in his wrists and elbows stopped hurting after he received treatment.  He credits the equipment for helping to prolong his golfing career, assisting his healing process with a variety of injuries and surgeries.  Terry Bradshaw used the machine after he severely injured his elbow in one of his games.  "After four treatments, I was out of pain and back in the games," said Bradshaw.  Even more impressive, Joan Benoit won her Olympic Marathon trials only 17 days after arthroscopic knee surgery with a week's worth of treatments with the Electro-Myopulse equipment.

The Electro-Myopulse works on most musculo-skeletal disorders, and the greatest thing about the therapy is that the results are lasting.

At Chiropractic Plus, we also use a machine called a Neuroscope, which enhances the results of the Electro-Myopulse, among other benefits.
