ABOUT CHIROPRACTIC

Chiropractic is a healthcare discipline that emphasizes the inherent recuperative ability of the body to heal itself without the use of drugs or surgery. Chiropractic focuses on the relationship of structure and function and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health.

Chiropractic is the removal of interference from the spinal nerves.  This interference is called a subluxation. Freeing these restrictions by restoring normal motion or position of the individual spinal bones is one of our major goals. This is accomplished by introducing a quick movement, the adjustment,  to the restricted vertebral segments.

Poor posture, poor recovery from accidents and tissue damage, whether it’s an auto accident, a sprain at the gym, or long periods of sitting, muscles and other soft tissue that support our skeleton adapt to form less free movement patterns.

This means that the body then becomes less able to adapt to any new stress it encounters. The previous condition will impair structure and proper function. If allowed to progress, the body segments will certainly develop symptoms in the form of stiffness and/or pain and succumb to the aging process more rapidly. It is important for each of us to realize that our daily movements, postures and habits affect our structure greatly.

According to the 1995 survey "Americans Perceptions of Practitioners and Treatments for Back Pain," those who received care from a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) were more likely to be satisfied with their care (63%) than those who were treated by a PT (56%), M.D. (52%) or DO (50%). And a 1991 Gallup survey revealed that nine out of 10 chiropractic users felt their treatment was effective.

So it's no wonder that last year 30 million people in the U.S. opted for chiropractic care, despite the fact that out of $13.7 billion spent for this care, $10.3 billion was paid out-of-pocket by patients themselves.
